Sandwell property in high demand as work starts on luxury apartments
An art deco-style building in West Bromwich is being transformed into luxury apartments as the demand for housing in Sandwell grows.
The former headquarters of West Bromwich Building Society is being converted into more than 100 one and two-bed apartments.
70 per cent of the properties have already been snapped up with a waiting list from local residents as well as international buyers who registered to purchase a home at Society House pre-launch.
The high street building was acquired by developers in 2018 and is being redeveloped by Empire Property. Completion of the scheme is anticipated for the fourth quarter of 2022.
News of this scheme follows that of another office block in West Bromwich that we recently reported on having been acquired for redevelopment into residential property. Intersection House is a ten-storey office block which had stood vacant for nearly 18 months but now has plans for a residential-led scheme at the site.
As the demand for commercial property in the borough surges, national probation and employment services provider Ingeus UK signed a six-year lease on 4,470 sq ft in Kingston House in West Bromwich, which we reported on last month.
