Congratulations to OnSite Central and its water operative apprentices

OnSite Central is a civil engineering company based in Tipton, offering a wide range of solutions for water assets and critical infrastructure. OnSite currently has the contract to look after water pipes emergencies in the borough.

The Think Sandwell employment and skills team helped OnSite in the recruitment campaign to source the right trainees for the water network operative apprenticeships that were available and liaised with specialist training provider Watertrain to support their ongoing training.

Head of external operations at OnSite Mick Clark said: “Following a successful year of growth in our core pipeline activities and emerging markets and in recognition of a shortage of skilled labour in the utility sector, OnSite Pipelines has recruited seven new water operative apprentices with support from Sandwell Council.”

Established in 1977, OnSite is part of SSI Services (UK) Ltd, a division of South Staffordshire Plc and has grown through strategic acquisition and organic expansion to become one of the UK’s leading providers of specialist contracting services for essential infrastructure and assets that are crucial to the smooth running of the water and wastewater industries.

Drawing on the experience of its team, coupled with specialist equipment and highly skilled personnel, OnSite has a proven track record of the delivery of successful projects and contracts across a broad spectrum of market sectors, including some demanding industrial environments.

Onsite’s experts pass down their specialist knowledge and experience of looking after the pipes, mains and pumping stations that supply homes and businesses with water through training and career opportunities across a broad spectrum of areas.

Mick added: “The apprentices have embarked on a thorough learning and training programme supported by Watertrain and will emerge as the next generation of water industry professionals.

“Each apprentice has spent time in our core activities and support functions over the last three months to help settle them into our community and they will now follow a chosen path in either main laying or clean water projects whilst completing their apprenticeships.

“I would like to congratulate them on their progress and positive attitude to date and wish Greg Hart, Regan Southam, Lewis Dowen, Lewis Smart, Anton Grant, Cameron Maxwell and Demetrius Webb every success in their chosen career.”

Congratulations to both OnSite and all the apprentices – Greg, Regan, Lewis, Lewis, Anton, Cameron and Demetrius – keep up the good work!
