The latest edition of the CEnTSA Trading Standards Business News (TSBN) is out! 

The Spring 2022 edition covers food hygiene, salon safety, cash flow issues for small businesses, mental health support, how to plan and protect against fire, counterfeit sporting goods, and more!

Central England Trading Standards Authorities (CEnTSA) is a collaboration of 14 trading standards services from local authorities across the West Midlands.

Its aim is to maximise the impact individual services have by establishing and maintaining good working relationships with a wide range of regional business partners, supporting businesses in the region and promoting economic growth.

Trading Standards Business News is full of advice to help you and your business and to ensure you stay on the right side of the law. Each edition covers a wide range of business sectors and provides sign posting for further information.

The editor’s welcome outlines what is included in the magazine. Frances Darling explains that following the lifting of Covid-19 restrictions this edition provides a range of resources and advice to help businesses “build back better”.

It includes information to help ensure that customers pay on time and in full, guidance on caring for the mental health as well as physical wellbeing of your workforce, designing and improving business continuity plans to address supply chain problems, and fire safety advice. 

It also looks at the impact Covid-19 has had on food hygiene ratings and standards practises.

Frances Darling said: “A feature on the beauty industry covers the safety issues that affect customers seeking the ultimate ‘summer holiday look’, while owners of mobile home sites – both residential and mixed-use parks – are reminded about the requirement to appoint a ‘fit and proper person’ to manage their sites and what they need to do to ensure this is in place.

“In the run-up to the Commonwealth Games, which are due to take place in Birmingham from 28 July to 8 August, we encourage businesses to report concerns about counterfeit goods, to maintain a fair trading environment for legitimate businesses.

“There are also details about permanent changes to permitted development rights, aimed at further supporting hospitality businesses and town centre high streets to recover from the impact of Covid-19.”
