Sustainable energy company KEW Technology is using government funding to develop a pioneering carbon capture and hydrogen production facility.

KEW’s cutting edge sustainable energy centre is on Portway Road in Wednesbury. Its advanced conversion technology tackles climate change by efficiently converting all types of non-recyclable wastes and low-grade biomass into sustainable energy products, such as hydrogen, heat and advanced fuels. 

The funding comes through the Net Zero Innovation Portfolio, under the Greenhouse Gas Removals Programme from the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy. KEW will use the money to develop a new production module which will reduce the cost of carbon capture, increase the supply of biomass in the UK, boost the UK’s capacity of biodiverse supply chains and support over 3,500 jobs. The unit will begin operation towards the end of 2023.
