Engineering firm to take on new staff after relocation in Sandwell

Engineering firm Workrest Blades has moved to larger premises in Sandwell. In a deal brokered by commercial property specialist Bulleys, the company has relocated from its previous Sandwell base in Smethwick into a 3,300 square feet unit at Varney Business Park in West Bromwich.

Varney Business Park is located on Spon Lane, just outside West Bromwich town centre. It is conveniently situated close to junction 1 of the M5 motorway and the Black Country New Road, which provides easy access to Wolverhampton and the rest of the Black Country.

Following the move Workrest Blades has plans for continued growth and hopes to take on new staff. It currently has a workforce of six and if the business continues to grow it will have to take on new staff in the year ahead.

The family-owned business is currently experiencing an increase in orders for its specialist parts. It manufactures, repairs and refurbishes parts used in the grinding of cylindrical components, with customers including Rolls-Royce Engines, Ford, Nissan, Sandvic and De Beers.

Founded in 1969 by husband and wife team Neal and Gill Lanchbury, the company has now been taken over by their daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and David Giles. David used to work for BMW in Tamworth and as the new managing director hopes to use his sales skills to help grow the company’s revenue even further.

Bulleys negotiated the letting of Unit 5 at Varney Business Park for £15,000 per annum, on a six-year, two-month lease on behalf of the business park’s landlord, Portrust Holdings Ltd.
