Meet Wade Building Services, our #madeinsandwell Monday star for this week.

Founded in the 1960s, Wade supplies metal-based fabricated steelwork, fences, barriers and scaffold products. The company provides the UK’s most comprehensive range of structural lintels for the house building and wider construction industry.

While its operational headquarters and main distribution site are in Tipton, Wade works nationally through a network of UK distributors and supply agreements with leading manufacturers.

Some of Wade’s high-profile house builder clients include Bellway Homes, Persimmon and Kier Living, as well as Sandwell Council’s housing refurbishment partner Lovell Partnerships.

For the latter Wade has supplied (through specialist fabricators) materials for local projects including:

* Bespoke lintels to the newly transformed Lion Farm Estate in Oldbury
* Various structural steelwork fabrications, lintels and ancillary building materials for the redevelopment of low-rise housing projects across north Sandwell.

Other local projects for Wade include the supply of catnic thermal lintels to Sandwell Council’s £10m refurbishment of Hackwood, Wallace and Harry Price houses on the Lion Farm Estate in Oldbury [artist’s impression pictured right].

In order to secure work on projects of this calibre, Wade Building Services continually invests in marketing, premises, advanced logistics, fleet, digital engineering, technology adoption and – perhaps most crucially of all – staff skills.

Sandwell Council’s Think Sandwell team recently worked with Wade Building Services on the expansion of its premises, leading to the creation of additional jobs at its Tipton HQ.

Wade had been operating at full capacity and, with pipeline orders growing in number, needed land to enhance its storage and distribution efficiency. The company wanted to open a brand new trade counter and an online order fulfilment service.

The council helped Wade to secure a 3.2-acre site of unused land adjacent to its current site in Groveland Road.

Indie has worked for Wade for more than 14 years and was impressed by Sandwell Council’s support for his team’s expansion plans.

“Demands from the construction supply chain are constantly evolving. Providing a quick and efficient service is crucial to remain competitive.
