Development opportunity: Land for sale in Sandwell
Update on Wednesday 9 February 2022: We heard from auctioneers Bond Wolfe that the lot sold for £192,000!
Land that was once home to The Rising Sun pub in Barton Street, West Bromwich is up for sale. The freehold residential development opportunity is being offered for sale by auction on Wednesday 9 February at Bond Wolfe Auctions.
The Rising Sun pub dates back to the early nineteenth century, when there were two properties on the site with a shared brewhouse. The pub changed hands several times over the next two centuries, before it closed its doors for the last time in 2005. The building was demolished in 2012 and the plot has remained vacant since.
The land now has outline planning permission for a proposed residential development of four one-bedroom flats or two semi-detached dwellings granted under application DC/20/64786 by Sandwell Council.
The 372.7 sq metre site is on the corner of Barton Street and Richard Street South in a predominantly residential area just off Moor Street, which leads directly from the main ringway.
It is situated approximately half a mile from the town centre, with junction 1 of the M5 about 1.5 miles away and Sandwell and Dudley railway station approx three quarters of a mile away.
The local area has undergone some major regeneration in recent years and the redevelopment of the site into residential use would be in keeping with its surroundings.
The sale is taking place via a remote bidding auction with bidding by proxy, telephone or internet only. For remote bidding you will need to pre-register and provide identification and debit card details no later than 24 hours prior to the auction. Further details are available on Bond Wolfe’s website.
