Black Country Day is coming on Saturday (14 July) and in this week’s #madeinsandwell Monday slot we want to tell you all about it.

Think Sandwell’s aim with #madeinsandwell Monday is to celebrate the businesses of our borough and everything they have given back to Sandwell. Nearly every Monday we share a profile of a local organisation and share it through our social media channels with the hashtag #madeinsandwell.

As you may be aware, Black Country Day celebrates the diversity and strength of business in the wider Black Country. It takes place every year on 14 July. This date was chosen because it’s the anniversary of the invention of the world’s first steam engine, the Newcomen Engine, built in the Black Country in 1712.

Black Country Day is championed by the Black Country LEP alongside the four Black Country local authorities (Dudley Council, Sandwell Council, Walsall Council and Wolverhampton City Council). And because our aims overlap so much, we are keen to get behind Black Country Day too.

So what should you do to get involved?

On Saturday 14 July, you’re encouraged to:

1. Take a photo of your product(s), workplace and/or staff
2. Post the picture to Twitter
3. Include the hashtag #MadeInTheBlackCountry along with any others which might apply (for example #manufacturing and so on – or #madeinsandwell if you’re in Sandwell). Please also mention @officialBCday and tag in @blackcountrylep where possible.
