Sandwell Investment Zone plans submitted
The West Midlands Combined Authority has submitted regeneration proposals to government. The ambitious project was drawn up in collaboration with local councils and business leaders from across the West Midlands.
In the plans, each of the seven West Midlands local authorities identified their own preferred areas for Investment Zones. If approved, the scheme will create a Sandwell Investment Zone along the new Metro extension, which connects Wednesbury to Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Dudley.
Regeneration would focus on creating new housing and new industrial floorspace, and the renovation of existing premises, in six key areas:
- Wednesbury town centre
- Tipton town centre
- Hill Top, West Bromwich
- Great Bridge
- Dudley Port
- Coneygre, Tipton
Sandwell Council believes that establishing an Investment Zone could attract substantial private sector investment, generating new jobs and economic growth for Sandwell.
