Six super apprentices #MadeInSandwell
Congratulations to six super apprentices #MadeInSandwell.
All six of the water network operative apprentices joined OnSite last September and since then have gone through rigorous training and made great progress in their chosen career paths. OnSite has now exceeded its social value outcomes by taking on all six.
The Tipton civil engineering company’s commitment to developing the skills and futures of young people in the borough means that its team’s specialist knowledge and experience of looking after the pipes, mains and pumping stations of Sandwell is passed down through excellent training and the company offers career opportunities across a broad spectrum of areas.
OnSite offers a wide range of solutions for water assets and critical infrastructure. It currently has a contract from Sandwell Council to look after water pipes emergencies in the borough.
Following a successful year of growth in its core pipeline activities and emerging markets and in recognition of a shortage of skilled labour in the utility sector, OnSite recruited the six new water network operative apprentices with support from Sandwell Council.
The Think Sandwell employment and skills team helped OnSite in its recruitment campaign to source the right trainees for the roles and liaised with specialist training provider Watertrain to support their ongoing training.
Last September the apprentices embarked on a thorough learning and training programme supported by Watertrain to emerge as the next generation of water industry professionals. Each apprentice spent time in OnSite’s core activities and support functions before choosing a path in either main laying or clean water projects.
Mick Clark, head of external operations said: “I would like to congratulate our six apprentices on their progress and positive attitude to date and wish them all every success in their chosen careers.”
Established in 1977, OnSite is part of SSI Services (UK) Ltd, a division of South Staffordshire Plc and has grown through strategic acquisition and organic expansion to become one of the UK’s leading providers of specialist contracting services for essential infrastructure and assets that that are crucial to the smooth running of the water and wastewater industries.
Congratulations to OnSite and the apprentices #MadeInSandwell. Keep up the good work!
