Beeswift, a Black Country manufacturer of safety products and work wear, has expanded its international operations by taking over Netherlands distributor Schulte Safety Products (SSP).

SSP, a distributor of protective clothing and work wear, will now trade as Beeswift BV, with its new UK owner anticipating that the acquisition will underpin growth across Europe, particularly in the Netherlands and Germany.

The deal has already created more jobs at Beeswift’s West Bromwich headquarters, bringing a boost to the local economy, with plans to further increase staff numbers as the business establishes itself in Europe.

The acquisition will also enable Beeswift to enhance its product range and take another step towards its aims of becoming the leading wholesaler of personal protective equipment and a one stop shop for all safety requirements.

Ian Harrison, director of exports, Department for International Trade, Midlands, spoke in positive terms about the deal, calling Beeswift “a fantastic example of a West Midlands company with a truly international outlook” and affirming the company position as “an industry leader at home and abroad”.
