Planning approval has been granted by Sandwell Council for housing plans on the site of a former quarry and disused tip in West Bromwich.

The proposed scheme will rejuvenate the land and comprises of 34 two-bed houses, 153 three-bed houses and 36 four-bed homes, along with a new play area. All the properties will have their own garden space and are a mixture of detached, semi-detached and terraced houses.

Property developer Countryside Properties UK sought the planning for the 223 home development on the disused land at Hall Green Road. The scheme has now been approved, subject to conditions.

Countryside is an award-winning mixed-tenure developer with a reputation for building houses and residential developments that offer a community feel as well as bricks and mortar houses for their residents.

It often works in partnership with local authorities to regenerate public sector land, turning it into affordable homes.

A statement filed on behalf of Countryside Properties UK said: “This proposed scheme will provide much needed housing within reach of local amenities, facilities and with good transport links.

“This in turn will encourage greater activity in the area to support the local economy. In addition, the development of this site will improve and enhance the appearance of the area and allow existing services to benefit from a larger neighbourhood population.”
