‘Grab a jab’ as more pop-up Covid-19 vaccine clinics appear around Sandwell

West Bromwich Albion fans are being urged to “grab a jab” at The Hawthorns, as the club is throwing its full weight behind the vaccination drive as pop-up clinics appear around Sandwell.

Sandwell Council, in partnership with NHS colleagues and local community organisations, is setting up more pop-up Covid-19 vaccination clinics across the borough – including two days at the home of West Bromwich Albion today, Wednesday (7 July) and Thursday (8 July).

And it’s not just Albion fans who are welcome – anyone aged 18 or over can go along to get vaccinated at The Hawthorns, or at several other locations around Sandwell over the coming weeks.

  • Wednesday 7 July and Thursday 8 July at West Bromwich Albion Football Club, The Hawthorns, Birmingham Road, from 10am-6pm. (Pfizer only).
  • Wednesday 7 July at Asda, Cape Hill, Smethwick from 8am-6pm. (Pfizer and AstraZeneca).
  • Wednesday 7 July at Great Bridge Pharmacy, 30 Great Bridge, Tipton from 9am-7pm. (Pfizer and second dose AstraZeneca only).
  • Friday 9 July at the African Caribbean Resource Centre, Thomas Street, West Bromwich, from 11am-6pm. (Pfizer only).
  • Sunday 11 July until Wednesday 14 July at Asda, Cape Hill, Smethwick, from 8am-6pm. (Pfizer and AstraZeneca).
  • Tuesday 13 July at Smethwick Library, High Street, Smethwick, from 10am-4pm. (Pfizer only).
  • Wednesday 14 July at Rounds Green Library, Martley Road, Oldbury, from 10am-4pm. (Pfizer only).
  • Thursday 15 July at Friar Park Millennium Centre, Friar Park Road, Wednesbury, from 10am-4pm. (Pfizer only).
  • Tuesday 20 July and Thursday 22 July at Victoria Park Skill Centre, Corbett Street, Smethwick, from 1.30pm-3.30pm. (Pfizer only).

Anyone aged 40 or over who needs their second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine, can also go to Tipton Sports Academy, Wednesbury Oak Road, Tipton, Monday to Sunday from 8am-6pm. (First and second dose Pfizer and AstraZeneca available).

Please make sure it’s at least eight weeks since your first dose.

Remember:

  • No appointment is necessary.
  • No NHS number is needed.
  • No need to be registered with a GP.
  • No residential address is needed.
  • Offering both first and second dose vaccines – remember to be bring your vaccine card if you’ve had your first vaccination.
  • With Covid-19 cases rising both in Sandwell and across the West Midlands region, being fully vaccinated is the best way of protecting yourself and others from becoming seriously ill.

Baggies defender Dara O’Shea has recorded a short video for fans on social media. He said: “It’s really important that everybody can get their Covid-19 vaccination and we can get all of our supporters back to The Hawthorns as quickly as possible. We’re proud to be supporting the NHS vaccine rollout.”
