M6 junction 10 full closure scheduled

Map showing M6 Junction 10 closure and diversion with Highways England logo in the cornerA quick road-related update for our Sandwell business community. Junction 10 of the M6 will be closed to traffic in both directions from 8pm on Friday 24 September to 6am on Monday 27 September. Vehicles will be diverted off the motorway via exit slip roads before the junction, then back onto the motorway via entry slip roads after the junction.

The closure is needed so that five 44-metre-long beams, each weighing 130 tonnes, can be safely lifted into place to form a new bridge across the south of the junction. This is part of improvement works that will eventually ease congestion and reduce journey times for the thousands of motorists that use that section of the M6 every day.

Once the beams are in place, the junction will continue to be closed for construction between the entry and exit slip roads from 8pm to 6am every week night until Wednesday 20 October. Some daytime closures may also take place, as well as a weekend closure from 8pm on Saturday 9 October until 6am on Monday 11 October.

If your company or organisation operates near the road closure there is likely to be an impact on travel times for your deliveries, collections, employees and customers. Please share this information with anyone who might be affected, and plan ahead to minimise the impact on your business.
