Increase in turnover for workwear provider due to rise in demand for PPE
Turnover at Oldbury-based workwear provider Direct Corporate Clothing (DCC) surged in the financial year ending 31 March 2021. The company reported a turnover of £90.6m for the year, up from £27.6m in 2020.
Direct Corporate Clothing makes clothing for the likes of BT, Veolia Environmental, Morrison Utilities, Kwik Fit, Yodel and Kier Group but as demand for PPE increased during the pandemic so did its sales, resulting in a surge in turnover.
Pre-tax profits also climbed from £1.4m to £30.6m over the same period.
Founded in 1999, Direct Corporate Clothing operates a 72,000 sq ft warehouse and head office in Oldbury. It has always supplied workwear and PPE to many sectors, including construction, transport, healthcare, waste, hospitality and retail, but since the beginning of the pandemic PPE sales have increased across all industries.
DCC featured as one of #MadeInSandwell stars back in 2019, just after celebrating its 20th anniversary and having topped our Top 50 Fastest Growing Companies Index. The company was also named in the ‘1000 companies to Inspire Britain’ report compiled by the London Stock Exchange Group and since then it has continued to go from strength to strength.
A statement signed off by the board said that: “Trading has remained strong and the business is focused on growing revenues with its existing as well as new customers.
“The business has developed a strong pipeline of potential customers and is working on this to ensure that the tendering process is robust.”
