Sandwell Cultural Education Partnership (SCEP) is looking to commission a creative person or collective living in or well connected to the borough for a piece of work which captures and embodies the voice of Sandwell. 

It is looking for an artist, writer or creative who has a strong connection to Sandwell to explore the talent, history and potential of the borough’s six towns. It will support the artist as they pull together local stories, heritage and art to inform their work. 

The chosen artist will be required to collaborate with a local filmmaker to create a piece of media involving audio or visual recording of the artist performing or discussing their work. The commissioned piece will be used by SCEP to inform the development of arts and culture within the borough.

Sandwell Cultural Education Partnership is a partnership of sector professionals, cultural enthusiasts and creative advocates who are working with children and young people in Sandwell. 

Its membership consists of organisations, individuals and local authority services working together to develop a more joined-up local arts and cultural offer for children and young people. SCEP was developed as a response to the National Cultural Education Challenge and Sandwell Council’s Vision 2030. 

The commission should capture the voice of Sandwell but this can be in any art form. SCEP wants to hear about the people, the history, the landmarks, or the stories that unlock and showcase the talent and potential of Sandwell.

This commission has a flat fee of £1000, inclusive of travel costs, research and time filming.
