The Summer edition of the CEnTSA Trading Standards Business News (TSBN) is out! 

This edition covers the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) annual business awards, avian flu, overcoming food supply issues, tips for starting your own business, age restrictions for corrosive substances, rules surrounding nicotine products and fire safety advice.

Central England Trading Standards Authorities (CEnTSA) is a collaboration of fourteen trading standards services from local authorities across the West Midlands. It aims to maximise the impact individual services have by supporting businesses in the region and promoting economic growth.

Trading Standards Business News is full of advice to help individuals and businesses to stay on the right side of the law. Each edition covers a wide range of business sectors and provides sign posting for further information.

The digital magazine starts with the editor’s welcome, which outlines what is included in the publication. In the latest edition Frances Darling congratulates everyone who entered the FSB West Midlands Celebrating Small Business Awards 2022 and mentions what a pleasure it is to hear about the achievements of the region’s small businesses, especially given the unprecedented challenges of the past couple of years.

She touches on the tragic situation in the Ukraine and how it will affect the supply chain of certain food ingredients, including grain and sunflower oil, which may lead to issues with the labelling of foodstuffs and the potential for increased risks, in particular in relation to allergens.

She gives links to advice to help food manufacturers and retailers, and reminds businesses how to protect against avian flu. She also points out that this edition focuses on hosting summer events and reminds licensed premises to make sure their outdoor spaces are licenced correctly and nuisance to neighbours is minimised.
