Cycling is a great way to get around during the Games, whether you’re attending events or travelling around the region as normal and West Midlands Cycle Hire would like to help you get from A to B as easily as possible. As well as avoiding any congestion, cycling is great for health and wellbeing!

Each day from Wednesday 27 July until Monday 8 August you will be able to enjoy two completely free 30 minute cycle hire rides.

There will also be pop-up virtual docking stations around the region during the Games. Pop-up virtual stations are signposted and branded areas where riders can hire and park bikes.

Although not a physical docking station, they operate in the same way with riders using their app to unlock a bike and ending a journey by pressing down the yellow lock near the front tyre.

The virtual docking stations will be located at the following major venues:

  • Sandwell Aquatics Centre
  • Alexander Stadium
  • Arena Birmingham
  • Coventry Stadium and Arena
  • Edgbaston (Cannon Hill Park)
  • Smithfield

West Midlands Cycle Hire will have support staff around popular visitor locations in Coventry, Wolverhampton and Birmingham to help riders hiring or locking bikes for the first time.

If you’re new to cycle hire simply download the Cycle Hire app from the App Store or Google Play and create an account.

For existing customers, the first two rides that you take each day during the offer period will be free (for up to 30-minutes). The offer is applied automatically to your account, you don’t need to do anything.
