Congratulations to Sandwell company Vacuum & Atmosphere Services (VAS) on its recent acquisition.

The Smethwick-based furnace servicing company has expanded with the purchase of a distributor and stockist of industrial vacuum pump spares.

VAS provides products and services for the heat treatment industry, including services for both vacuum furnaces and atmosphere furnaces. As agents for Ipsen – the world’s largest furnace manufacturer – VAS is also able to provide the most technologically advanced and highest quality heat treatment furnaces.

The acquisition of Vacuum Pump Spares follows a successful period of orders, both domestic and international. VAS employs 31 people and provides furnace services for the likes of Mercedes, GE Power, Moog and Collins Aerospace.

Family business Vacuum Pump Spares specialises in the next day delivery of vacuum pump service and repair parts. Founded in 1988, it will now become part of the VAS group of companies.

The previous owner of Vacuum Pump Spares, James Williams, will remain as a consultant for a period of time following the handover to ensure continuity for its customers.
