Free mental health awareness sessions

Scrabble tiles spelling out 'mental health'Tough Enough to Care, a mental health support group for men aged 18 or over, is offering free awareness sessions to Sandwell businesses, clubs, groups and organisations.

The 90-minute sessions are for people of any gender, and aim to equip participants with better knowledge and understanding of issues around mental health. This includes spotting the signs and symptoms of poor mental health, tips for self care and how to start a conversation with someone who is struggling.

This is an opportunity for people to share experiences and dilemmas, build peer support, learn from each other, and find out how best to signpost those in need to professional services.

Previous attendees of the sessions have said how valuable they have been. One person said it “helped me to look at my own mental health in a different light and I cannot wait to support myself and others around me.” Another said, “I put it into action at my rugby club and I am happy to say I think we have saved a life. We followed your guidance and the person in question is now seeking professional support.”
