JD Gyms comes to Oldbury

Inside a JD Gyms centreGym chain JD Gyms has signed a 15-year lease for new premises at Birchley Island Retail Park in Oldbury.

We’ve previously reported on the redeveloped site: when the plans were approved, when the park was completed, and when Canadian doughnut specialist Tim Hortons announced its drive-thru store.

Now it’s time to work off those donuts at the new JD Gyms leisure facility, which will include a swimming pool and sauna. JD Gyms is currently undertaking a complete refit of the building, and plans to open to the public in late 2022.

Birmingham-based Hortons’ Estate, has regenerated the retail park, once home to Toys R Us, creating four new units. It is in a great location on Junction 2 of the M5, and an EV charging hub is currently being installed. Tim Hortons and the site’s other resident, homewares retailer B&M, are performing ahead of expectation since the park opened in May 2022.

There is one more unit still available at the site, which includes 20,600 sq ft of retail warehouse space. Anyone interested should contact the agents, Wright Silverwood for more information.
