The Midlands Construction Summit is a combined conference and exhibition first held in 2014. The inaugural event was declared a great success, attracting over 300 innovators, leaders, supply chain specialists and industry stalwarts, operating across all key construction sectors – congregating to debate and deliberate on the content of the joint Industry and Government 2025 Strategy.

Construction is a sector where Britain has a strong competitive edge. The Midlands has world-class expertise in architecture, design and engineering – British companies are leading the way in sustainable construction solutions. The sector has considerable growth opportunities, with the global construction market forecast to grow by over 70 percent by 2025.

This year the Midlands Construction Summit will return on 06 October at the NEC, Birmingham to help the region’s built environment sector reflect on industry changes made since last year, as well as developing future plans to deliver the Construction 2025 Industrial Strategy.

 

 

 

 

 

Hosted by the Built Environment Hub, the Midlands body tasked with driving construction product and process innovation in the region – the Midlands Construction Summit will offer a platform to share opinions and learn from industry leaders, including Peter Hansford, UK Chief Construction Advisor.

Following his keynote presentation, Peter Hansford will join the panel for an open Q & A session and this will provide an excellent opportunity for delegates to pose questions directly to one of the leading contributors of the Strategy document.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The event will be co-located as part of UK Construction Week and will include talks from key industry leaders including:

Each of the industry leaders will discuss how their organisation is aligning their strategies with Construction 2025.

The Construction 2025 Industrial Strategy provides a vision of how the industry and government will work together to transform and grow the construction sector over the next decade. The targets of the strategy are clear:

• a 33% reduction in both the initial cost of construction and the whole life cost of assets
• a 50% reduction in overall time from inception to completion for new build and refurbished assets
• a 50% reduction in carbon emissions;
• a 50% reduction in the trade gap between total exports and imports of construction products and materials.

What was once a backward looking sector is now stepping into the modern world and looking forward, planning the transition to a low-carbon environment through the utilisation of advanced technology and the growth of a thriving British economy.
