Tokai Carbon Europe has acquired extra space at its base in Oldbury. Tokai Carbon Europe is part of Japanese company Tokai Carbon Group. It is one the world’s leading producers of graphite and carbon products.

Tokai CarbonThe company already owns property on Roway Lane in Oldbury but has recently purchased a further 4,668 square feet of space in Unit 3, along with a yard of approximately 0.25 acres as part of its expansion.

Tokai Carbon specialises in the production and machining of isotropic, extruded and moulded grades of graphite. It also produces and supplies CC composites, speciality graphites (including purified and anti-oxidation treated) and SiC products used in various industries.

West Midlands commercial property specialist Bulleys arranged the acquisition of the unit from Alliance Scaffolding for a sum close to the asking price of £350,000. Angela Holland, agency assistant at Bulleys, said in a news release on the Bulleys website: “We are delighted to have assisted Tokai Carbon with its expansion plans and wish the company every success in the future.”

John Diviney, managing director of Tokai Carbon Europe said: “This is an investment for new product lines and allows for the expansion of our logistics and manufacturing in the Black Country.”

Mr Diviney added that while the purpose of the acquisition was mainly to gain more space it was expected that the investment would eventually result in “one or two” new jobs.
