Wade to go! Our #madeinsandwell Monday star has some of the biggest clients in the construction business

Meet Wade Building Services, our #madeinsandwell Monday star for this week.

Wade logoFounded in the 1960s, Wade supplies metal-based fabricated steelwork, fences, barriers and scaffold products. The company provides the UK’s most comprehensive range of structural lintels for the house building and wider construction industry.

While its operational headquarters and main distribution site are in Tipton, Wade works nationally through a network of UK distributors and supply agreements with leading manufacturers.

Some of Wade’s high-profile house builder clients include Bellway Homes, Persimmon and Kier Living, as well as Sandwell Council’s housing refurbishment partner Lovell Partnerships.

For the latter Wade has supplied (through specialist fabricators) materials for local projects including:

* Bespoke lintels to the newly transformed Lion Farm Estate in Oldbury
* Various structural steelwork fabrications, lintels and ancillary building materials for the redevelopment of low-rise housing projects across north Sandwell.

In order to secure work on projects of this calibre, Wade Building Services continually invests in marketing, premises, advanced logistics, fleet, digital engineering, technology adoption and – perhaps most crucially of all – staff skills.

Company director Indie Basi said: “Our staff are trained to produce the highest standards of quality and this is reflected in the service that we provide to some of the world’s biggest house-building clients and on local and national iconic building projects.”

Sandwell Council’s Think Sandwell team recently worked with Wade Building Services on the expansion of its premises, leading to the creation of additional jobs at its Tipton HQ.

Wade had been operating at full capacity and, with pipeline orders growing in number, needed land to enhance its storage and distribution efficiency. The company wanted to open a brand new trade counter and an online order fulfilment service.

The council helped Wade to secure a 3.2-acre site of unused land adjacent to its current site in Groveland Road.

Indie has worked for Wade for more than 14 years and was impressed by Sandwell Council’s support for his team’s expansion plans.

“Demands from the construction supply chain are constantly evolving. Providing a quick and efficient service is crucial to remain competitive. Whether you are a long-established business or a new venture, the trade counter, online service, efficient order fulfilment and increased distribution are an essential and vitally important part of growing our business,” he said.

“The Think Sandwell team helped us to develop our business expansion ideas. The concept of Think Sandwell is unique – the facilitation of special themed events aligned to local regeneration projects is fantastic and adds value to local communities,” he said.

We at Think Sandwell, in turn, are delighted to have a company with the business credentials of Wade Building Services in our borough. We wish Indie and the team all the best for their ongoing success.
