Midland Tool and Design Gets Bigger

Florishing precision engineering firm Midland Tool and Design Ltd has invested heavily in new equipment and recruitment after an encouraging start to 2011.

The Sandwell based company has introduced new Brunderer presses, cylindrical grinders and heat treatment facilities, after winning significant contracts in the aerospace, medical and analytical sectors.

The success of their Modulam prototyping tool, which has already brought in 4 new projects since its introduction 12 months ago, is encouraging a diversification into the bonding, riveting and laser-welding of lamination packs and offering a complete motor sator service.

Preparing for the anticipated increase in work and to cater for existing projects, Midland Tool and Design have created 10 new posts adding to the 7 recruited last year, bringing the headcount to 45.

Managing Director Darren Booton said “we’ve has a very busy year so far and have a number of projects comming up, so we’ve invested in our machinery and workforce.”

“We will  be developing our partnership with Dudley College later in the year to bring in more apprentices.”

Midland Tool & Design was established in 1969 and specialises in supplying precision components to a wide range of companies in the aerospace, medical and automotive engineering sectors.
