Councillor welcomes the start of work on new Rowley Regis flats

Susan EavesRowley Regis councillor Susan Eaves said a new complex of flats is just what Sandwell needs, as building work begins.

The £16m construction project will provide 90 beds in a residential home for people over 55. With a shared garden, restaurant and specially adapted facilities for older people, it is one of the biggest developments of its kind in the Black Country. The finished complex will also include 24-hour care for its residents.

The site, on Harvest Road in Rowley Regis, was originally bought for housing in 1947, but not built on. Sandwell Council purchased it in the 1970s but it wasn’t until March this year that the current plans were given the go-ahead, with ground finally broken in August.

Councillor Susan Eaves has championed the facility, saying “I think the project is brilliant, it is definitely what we need this side of Sandwell.”

Think Sandwell will be following the scheme’s progress with interest and wishes the construction team all the best. To find out how we can help your company find new premises, visit our Property and Planning pages.
