    Black Country Chamber Construction Connections
    Friday 27th February

Black Country Chamber of Commerce are staging a breakfast event to determine how we can be best positioned to provide assistance to the sector.

"Built in the West Midlands - Sold Around the World"
Your Gateway to Hospital Innovation and Supply Chain Opportunities
The West Midlands Virtual Hospital (WMVH) Is a pioneering digital-engineered 3D building showing that collectively, West Midlands firms are capable of supplying all building, clinical components and support services needed for a modern-day acute hospital. It complements the development of a real-life hospital, the soon-to-be-built £353m Midland Metropolitan (MMH) in Grove Lane, Smethwick. The bidder awarded the Midland Metropolitan (MMH) project will integrate the WMVH into their own procurement and supply chain process with components aligned to West Midlands local businesses. At this breakfast meeting you will hear from Steve Massey – Supply Chain Development Officer, Sandwell Council, Paul Smith – Sector Development Manager - Sandwell Council and Conrad Parkes – Local Procurement & Lead Consultant to Sandwell & West Birmingham NHS Trust.

Find out first hand how buyers will send enquiries, exchange and request supplier information, post adverts for materials / subcontract packages / tender opportunities and view a list of prospective suppliers who have expressed an advance interest to relevant MMH packages. WMVH will publish contract alerts and awards notices so as a local business you can see work being generated and how to respond to relevant tenders. Built into the functionality of WMVH is a client reporting feature to quantify the volume of enquiries generated and value of business placed with local firms in real life.

WMVH is also an educational tool to raise awareness of emerging technology and new government legislation set for new building projects from 2016. The WMVH includes an easy-to-configure 3D BIM (Building Information Modelling) platform. BIM is a universal means for sharing digital designs and product life-cycle data between clients, architects, manufacturers and sub-contract installers. To be able to compete in the global marketplace, every materials manufacturer, engineering firm and product installer will need to get to grips with BIM in the coming months. Don't miss this opportunity to find out how to get involved and ensure that your processes are up to date.
