This one-day workshop takes place on Thursday 23 June at Birmingham City University Business School. It delves into the issues of supporting business start-up whilst also offering the opportunity for break-out sessions to discuss and develop a debate on how to better support start-ups.

The event is being hosted by Entrepreneurship SIG, British Academy of Management (BAM) and Birmingham City University Business School, Birmingham City University. It is aimed at academics (including PhD students), practitioners, policy makers and those in a business advisory capacity.

The workshop offers the chance to:

• Gain a deeper insight into the entrepreneurial mindset based on ESRC funded research
• Develop further insights into business support practice from different perspectives
• Learn about recent research on taking better advantage of an external business environment for starting a new venture
• Meet and network with people from the field.

Cost: The workshop is free for BAM members and for staff and students from Birmingham City and Birmingham University, while a £20 charge will be requested from non-members to cover costs. The fee of £20 includes refreshments and lunch.
