At the first event of 2016, we will be reviewing the latest results, considering business performance and confidence in the first quarter for local businesses. As part of the business report we will also be examining key business policy themes. In Q1 manufacturing is under the spotlight. In 2011, George Osborne promised to rebalance the economy, yet 5 years later manufacturing output is no higher. Recent GDP figures and our own report in Q4 2015 demonstrate that while the service sector continues to grow, manufacturers in contrast are struggling.
