Twelve companies from across the region have been honoured in this year’s Queen’s Awards for Enterprise.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Among the winners recognised for international trade, innovation and sustainable development are a West Midlands university, a renowned car maker and a listed food supplement manufacturer.

The awards reward the growth and enterprise of companies across the UK. Now in its 50th year, a total of 141 businesses have secured an accolade in 2015.

Coventry’s Jaguar Land Rover was among one of three West Midlands companies to be recognised for its sustainable development after reducing the environment impact of its products and operations.

Other businesses recognised in the category were West Bromwich’s Matrix Housing Partnership, which has designed and constructed more than 30,000 affordable homes in the West Midlands, and The Midcounties Co-operative.

Meanwhile, Coventry University, which was formed in 1992, was rewarded for international trade alongside Staffordshire-based LA International Computer Consultants, vitamin and food supplement maker NutraHealth, based in Birmingham, and Coventry hydraulic product maker TA Savery & Company.

Dr David Pilsbury, deputy vice-chancellor for international development at the university, said: “The growth in scale and breadth of our international activities is something we’re immensely proud of and it is wonderful to have it recognised by receiving the UK’s most prestigious business and enterprise award.”

Those recognised for innovation include Smethwick-based GeoPost UK; Worcestershire’s Grey Technology; Prometheus Medical; ProServe and ThermServe.

Winners are visited by a Royal representative and presented with a crystal bowl to mark their achievement, and also attend a celebratory reception at Buckingham Palace.

They can also use the Queen’s Award emblem in their advertising for five years.
