Black Country Transformational GOLD (BCT GOLD) is a grant scheme funded by the European Regional Development Fund. It provides match-funded grants to SMEs in key sectors to help them implement projects to transform their businesses, boost growth and create jobs.

Transformational projects are assessed on the impact of the grant support across the business, including overall performance and job creation. BCT GOLD can provide 30 per cent of the total project costs, starting at a minimum of £1,500.

To be eligible, a business must be an SME with an annual turnover of less than €50m, a balance sheet value of less than €43m, fewer than 250 people and less than 25 per cent owned by another company. The business must pay rates in Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall or Wolverhampton and trade in one of the following sectors:

• advanced manufacturing
• business services
• building technologies
• environmental technologies
• transport technologies
• life sciences.
