At a time when trading is tough, we love to celebrate Sandwell businesses that are bucking the trend. That’s why we were delighted to hear about Latham’s Security Doorsets Ltd opening a new office building and 25,000 square feet of extended warehouse space.

Following extensive building works and a £500k investment, as well as the recruitment of new staff, Latham’s Security Doorsets recently welcomed Deputy Mayor of Sandwell Carol Goult to its Oldbury premises for an official ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, managing director Alex Latham said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to see the official opening of the new and extended facilities. This is the culmination of ten years’ hard work, and following six months of building works and renovations, it’s great to see everyone’s hard work and determination come to fruition”.

Also present were representatives from Ridge Steel Fabrications Ltd – the construction company selected to carry out the building works – and Albion BID, which provided support throughout the project.

Established in 2008, Latham’s Security Doorsets is a family owned company known for holding a large range and quantity of security doors for residential, commercial and industrial use. It currently supplies over 10,000 doors per year and expects now to see an annual growth in turnover of 25 per cent.

In the near future the company wants to change a widely held perception that security doors are unsuitable for residential use, with a range of fully customisable front doors that look – according to the team – as good as composite or uPVC but are made from thick gauge steel.

Alongside its new office and warehouse, Latham’s Security Doorsets Ltd has opened a hardware shop on the ground floor for its sister company Latham’s Hardware Ltd. This is after securing a supply contract with hinge makers A Perry & Co. Ltd – another successful Sandwell business.
