Social distancing screens are being used to help minimise the spread of the virus between customers and employees in retail and other outlets.

From early on in the lockdown supermarkets put up protective screens for staff at the checkouts and as other retail stores get ready to re-open they need protective screens to follow safety guidelines and keep their staff safe.

Smethwick-based MiGlass is an independent glass processor and glass manufacturer providing turnkey solutions for all flat glass processing needs and usually specialises in decorative glass products for all markets.

The company is used to making bespoke products for its customers and began making social distancing screens in high volume when demand arose due to Covid-19.

The company is also proud to have produced glass components used for medical testing, and research into Covid.

Alan Taylor managing director of MiGlass and Chair of Sandwell Business Ambassadors (SBA) said: “We have been delighted to supply social distancing screens in high volume, which have been used throughout the UK and Europe to help retail businesses open safely.

“As specialist processors we have been able to offer stylish tinted glass which looks and lasts much better, as well as being potentially more effective than many other solutions being employed.”

He explained that being based in Sandwell has helped the company to win the orders due to it being the perfect location to effectively manage the logistics of national and European deliveries.

Alan added: “Like all companies, we have had to significantly modify the workplace and working practices to be able to provide these services during the Covid pandemic. The directors would like to thank all our colleagues, customers and suppliers for their valued commitment and support.”
