This #MadeInSandwell Monday we’re celebrating with Mollies Café, Baguette and Outdoor Catering for securing the contract with Wates Construction, the main contractor building the landmark water sports venue.

The Oldbury-based SME is running the site canteen, providing hot and cold food, homemade snacks, savouries, cakes and refreshments to the site workforce and visitors for the duration of the development, which is set to open in summer 2023.

Lucy Egan, co-founder of Mollies, said: “Gaining a prestigious contract with Wates Construction means the world to us and it shows that good food and a friendly service continues to drive our business.

“We look forward to working closely with Paul Reynolds and the Wates team to build the food and service standards further at this world-class Sandwell Aquatics Centre.”

The local firm, which provides a diverse range of catering services to the community is feeding a small army of hungry construction professionals working on the project, including Wates Construction’s team, suppliers and subcontract workers visiting the site.

Paul Reynolds, project director for Wates Construction, said: “There is no doubt that Mollies’ unique friendly approach and their passion for first-class food, fresh locally sourced ingredients and fast service are standards that are very much appreciated by our hard-working teams.

“It’s a real pleasure having their team with us here on site. With their help and support during these challenging times, they have built a growing reputation and a loyal client base that truly enjoy the fantastic freshly-made food they deliver day in, day out. Mollies is another great example of a local business directly employing local people as a result of the superb opportunity that the aquatics centre brings to the community here in Smethwick.”

Mollies prides itself on its friendly service, fresh locally sourced ingredients and good food so it’s fantastic to see these standards paying off such a prestigious contract. Congratulations Mollies, keep feeding the community!
