The M6 will be partially closed at Junction 10 from 8pm on Friday 16 July to 6am on Monday 19 July 2021.

As we reported in June, the closure is due to planned improvements to the junction, replacing two existing bridges with wider, four-lane bridges. The aim is to ease congestion and improve journey times for the thousands of drivers who use the junction every day.

During the closure, all M6 traffic will be diverted up and over the junction in two lanes (see diagram). The timing of traffic lights on the roundabout will also be altered so that diverted traffic can move more freely through the junction. However, there are likely to be significant delays at peak times over the weekend, with knock-on effects on surrounding roads. Highways England is advising motorists to use alternative routes where possible.

After this full weekend closure, work will continue on the new bridges for up to five weeks, and slip roads at Junction 10 will be continue to be closed from 8pm to 6am, Monday to Friday.
