This week #MadeInSandwell Monday shines a light on Axis Europe, a property services company headquartered in London, but with a site on Wolverhampton Road in Oldbury.

Axis works in the commercial, heritage, social housing and public sectors. The services it provides include cladding, fit out, installation of electric vehicle charging points, painting and decorating, roofing, maintenance and repairs. Axis currently has four contracts with Sandwell Council, repairing and maintaining housing in the borough. 

The company has a commitment to eight core values: honesty, respect, developing people, diversity, cooperation, community, environmental protection and safety. Each year, it donates over £100,000 to the Axis Foundation, which supports small, local and impactful causes and charities.

One recent example is the support Axis gave to the Myra Harris Bungalow on Brickhouse Lane in West Bromwich. The company supplied materials and skilled staff to build six raised planters for the community venue’s ‘Grow, Cook and Eat Well’ initiative. This scheme encourages local residents and their families to save money and eat healthily by learning how to grow and cook their own food.

Scott Barber from Great Barr and Bradley Andrews from Walsall joined Axis as multitrader apprentices with help from Think Sandwell. Scott, who has now completed his apprenticeship, said, “We really enjoyed making something that the community will benefit from. What a nice feeling it is knowing these will be enjoyed by local residents.” Bradley added, “It was a great day. Good weather and good teamwork made it fly by, hopefully the residents enjoy the planters as much as we did making them.”

Think Sandwell looks forward to hearing about further Axis community outreach projects in the borough, and to seeing more local people develop and progress at the company.
