This week #MadeInSandwell Monday is celebrating the success of Smethwick-based Professional Polishing Services (PPS), the UK’s market leader in metal polishing.

Based at the Parkrose Industrial Estate on Middlemore Road, PPS polishes sheet, plate, coil, flat bar, sections, profiles, balustrades, laser cut panels, square and rectangular tube to a variety of finishes including grained, brushed, circle, reflective and duplex. It works with stainless steel, aluminium, brass and copper and supplies customers across the world.

As well as trading both nationally and internationally, PPS takes a lead on both local and global issues. Close to home, managing director Kirsty Davies-Chinnock will be one of the judges for the 2021 Birmingham Awards, which celebrate the resilience of local businesses and people. PPS also hopes to benefit the whole planet after signing up to the West Midlands Net Zero Business Pledge and working towards net zero carbon emissions by 2041.

After a challenging year, PPS has recovered quickly post-pandemic, and has increased its workforce by 25 per cent since lockdown eased. The company has recently invested over a quarter of a million pounds in new equipment which will enable it to offer dull and satin sheet polishing.

In an article by the Business Desk, Kirsty Davies-Chinnock, said that the company is now experiencing increased demand across all sectors, and has set an ambitious target of increasing annual sales from £1.7m to £2m by the end of 2022.
