Achieving business success through emotional intelligence
Black Country business network the Platinum Group has appointed a new leadership coach, who opened with a session entitled ‘Leadership influence through emotional intelligence’.
Overseen by the Black Country Chamber of Commerce, the group is made up of senior leaders from Black Country businesses in manufacturing, automotive, logistics, freight and transport. They meet quarterly to discuss opportunities and challenges, and to work collaboratively to move their businesses forward.
2017 marks the fifth anniversary of the Platinum Group, which continues to evolve to meet the needs of its members. New leadership coach, Jerry Bernstein, was recommended by Willenhall-based member company ASSA ABLOY. Jerry has been running leadership programmes with senior managers at the lock and security specialist, spreading the message that emotional and social intelligence differentiates great leaders from average ones. He believes that leaders who understand how to apply emotional intelligence are likely to have greater influence and create higher performing teams, ultimately leading to stronger financial performance and growth.
David Leggett, Director of Oldbury-based steel manufacturer Metsec, said, “It is invaluable to have this opportunity to reflect on our leadership skills and current issues with like-minded business leaders, in a supportive and trusted setting. The competitive environment is constantly evolving and it is important that we are developing our own skills and teams to ensure that we are able to continue to compete and grow.”
