While many restrictions have been eased across the country Covid-19 is still here and many employers across the borough are choosing to take steps to keep their employees and customers safe.

Sandwell company CMT Engineering Ltd has laid out its Covid measures that it will be continuing with despite a lifting of certain restrictions across the country.

With a long history stretching back over 100 years, today CMT Engineering is an independently owned company with two divisions: tube fittings and clamps.

CMT Tube Fittings is the UK’s leading manufacturer of mild steel screwed pipe fittings, while CMT Clamps manufactures injected moulded specialist heat and chemical resistant parts.

At its headquarters in Cradley Heath all its staff are still following the social distancing rules of keeping two metres apart and all its shop floor employees wear a face covering to help try to prevent the spread of any infection.

Floor markings have also been put down to separate staff when they enter and leave the premises to ensure there is no overcrowding in these areas.

All visitors are greeted via phone intercom and are politely requested to wear face masks on arrival. They must then follow a signing-in procedure and are asked to use hand sanitizer and abide by the social distancing rules in place at all times. Masks are provided if necessary.

As well as the signing-in procedure and the social distancing rules in place for staff and visitors there are hand sanitizer stations and surface wipes available around the site. CMT Engineering is also still operating its one way system.

All the measures that remain in place are to help ensure that the company’s staff and visitors are safe whilst working or visiting the site. The aim is to limit any spread of infection to keep people healthy and the business operating at full capacity.

The company also has an enhanced cleaning routine and the shop floor is cleaned thoroughly  twice a day every day. All surfaces are cleaned down and all cleaning is recorded.

Social distancing measures are also in place in all office areas with minimum staffing levels as many staff are still working from home on a regular basis to avoid overcrowding the office area.

Keep up the good work CMT Engineering!
