Fancy a spring clean in 2014?
One of Sandwell’s most popular community campaigns, the ‘Big Spring Clean’, is back for 2014. Sandwell Council is running the initiative for the eighth successive year with its waste partner Serco and local charity Litter Watch.
The multi-award winning campaign is an annual litter picking and improvement event that takes place across the borough’s six towns, involving residents, community groups, faith groups, schools and businesses.
It is the perfect opportunity for finditinsandwell members and local businesses to get involved in their communities and give something back to the Borough, and every year the campaign attracts thousands of people to take part.
Hundreds of locations have now benefited from The Big Spring Clean thanks to the commitment of the thousands of volunteers in recent years. And what better way to boost the morale of your team than to get them involved in helping such a valuable local project?
2014 promises to be the biggest campaign yet and to mark Sandwell’s 40th anniversary in style the theme for this year’s event is ‘40’. The campaign is targeting more than 40 miles of pavements with litter picking, planting 40 trees, working with 40 schools and painting 40 metres of fencing and railings across the borough.
Volunteers can decide what they’d like to do during their Big Spring Clean event, including litter picking, graffiti removal, planting, painting, and supporting local wildlife.
If you you’d like to get your team involved call 0121 544 3916, fill in the online form or email bigspringclean.sandwell@serco.com to register your interest. The Council will then help you to make an event of your choice happen in your local area.
The campaign will run until October 2014, so come on, let’s get behind Sandwell and keep our Borough looking clean and tidy!
