Black Country businesses are being encouraged to apply for the free Peer Networks programme, a government-funded initiative to help firms recover in the wake of coronavirus and Brexit.

After the challenges of the last year, it’s more important than ever for businesses to invest in long term development, and the Peer Networks programme requires just a few hours of time every month.

In return, you’ll get access to structured, small-group sessions, delivered online by professional facilitators, as well as one-to-one mentoring, coaching and advice. The aim is to bring likeminded business owners together, in a safe environment, to identify and discuss challenges that they may be facing, and to work together to find practical solutions.

The programme is not formal management or skills training, but facilitated personal development, supporting you to work with people within your sector who understand the current issues and opportunities. Businesses will not be placed in a group with any direct or indirect competitors, so all participants can share their situation, ideas and concerns freely.

To be eligible, businesses must have been trading for over one year, have at least five employees, a turnover of at least £100,000 and not have previously taken part in the programme. Only one person from a business or organisation can participate, to ensure that the maximum number of SMEs can benefit. It’s also important that all participants commit to attend all sessions – responsibility can’t be delegated to a colleague to attend on your behalf.
