Frozen food chain completes Sandwell retail park

Close up of a Farmfoods signBirchley Island retail park in Oldbury is now fully let after welcoming a prominent frozen food chain.

Farmfoods has signed a ten-year lease on a 20,600 sq ft warehouse at the retail park. It will join other well-known brands, such as JD Gyms, Swim!, B&M, McDonalds and a Tim Hortons drive-thru restaurant, which created around 50 new jobs for the borough.

Birchley Island retail park was opened in May 2022, following Hortons’ Estate Ltd’s redevelopment of the former Oldbury Toys ‘R’ Us site off Wolverhampton Road. Farmfoods completes a successful transformation of the site.

Why Farmfoods?

Farmfoods is a Scottish family-owned business, founded over 60 years ago. From a humble start in a butcher’s shop in Aberdeen the company has grown to include more than 300 stores and four distribution centres nationwide.

In addition to frozen food, Farmfoods sells groceries, chilled foods, bread, milk, fresh fruit and vegetables along with a range of household items. Its aim is to provide its customers with the best value on food and household essentials.

Its stores are designed to be efficient and functional rather than to win any interior design awards so that shopping is quick and hassle-free.

Benefits of Birchley Island

Birchley Island retail park is well located for Sandwell residents and being on a busy junction it

benefits from high traffic flow and a large catchment area, resulting in higher than expected trading levels for residents.
