Get connected with telecoms that are #madeinsandwell

This week #madeinsandwell Monday celebrates Midshire Telecom, a business telecommunications provider based in West Bromwich, supplying telephone systems, broadband, wifi and business mobiles to SMEs and schools across the UK.

The business has grown significantly since it was established in 2002. Starting with just three people in a small Nechells office, it now employs 40 staff across six departments – operations, support, engineering, sales, telesales and marketing.

In 2015 the company invested over £2m in ambitious expansion plans, which included relocating it’s headquarters to its current home on Doranda Way in West Bromwich, giving Midshire easy access to the M5 for connecting to customers both locally and nationally.

Jim Callaghan, the founder and managing director, said the firm is very much committed to the region: “The move has provided better facilities for our growing team and enables us to deliver an even better service to our expanding customer base. We are excited by our future prospects and to be working in Sandwell with a business-friendly council. The council’s Business Growth Team supported us throughout the funding, planning and relocation process, and we look forward to working with it as we grow.”

Jim believes that the key to Midshire’s success is its commitment to investing in people and the local area, enabling the company to provide outstanding levels of customer service. “We’re most proud of our sense of community here at Midshire Telecom,” said Jim. “Our employees are all passionate about the world of telecoms and, no matter the job, everyone is willing to help each other out and get the best result for our customers.”

The company’s sales, support and engineering teams have been recognised by two of the industry’s major telecommunications suppliers, having achieved Samsung Platinum status and Gamma Platinum Partner status. This year, Midshire ranked 19th in Sandwell’s Top 50 Fastest Growing Companies Index – the only telecoms business on the list. It is also a registered supplier of the government’s Gigabit Broadband Grant Scheme, helping bring super fast broadband to other businesses.

Looking to the future, Midshire plans to continue to grow, supporting people and companies within the local community. It is currently developing a new security product called Schools Connect to ensure schools are able to filter online content effectively. It is also developing an online marketplace for Sandwell called Connect:Sandwell, a central hub for businesses to encourage local investment instead of buying products and services from outside the borough.
