Grant funding boosts AIB ambitions

indus-logoThe finance director of one of Europe’s largest manufacturers of Asian food has thanked the Think Sandwell team for our role in helping his company secure thousands of pounds of grant funding to expand its operations.

AIB Foods Limited specialises in a wide variety of products, all produced from its factory in Wolverhampton. The ranges that they supply to both national supermarket chains and smaller shops include spices, pulses, flour, pickles, oils, sauces and pastes. In addition to their own brands, they also import and distribute international products from large multinational manufacturers.

The funding has enabled the company to invest in a new manufacturing and processing facility, making their factory one of the most modern in the UK. The up-to-date laboratory, food technology and quality systems help ensure consistency across all their products.

Established in 2010, the Regional Growth Fund is a government-led initiative which supports eligible projects and programmes in raising private-sector investment to create economic growth and lasting employment. The Think Sandwell team has extensive experience in helping dozens of local businesses, such as AIB Foods, access this funding and secure thousands of pounds of investment.

“Without the grant support, we couldn’t have installed the new facility,” said finance director Ken Sawhney. “The RGF funding was invaluable in underpinning our ambition to become the largest manufacturer of ethnic snacks in Europe.”

This is an impressive goal for a business that was registered as a limited company just six years ago. Thanks to the RGF grant, AIB Foods is facing a healthy future in Sandwell, the UK and abroad.
