Highways Minor Works supplier event

An opportunity to meet fellow contractors on the Black Country Framework Contract for Minor Works

A Highways Minor Works supplier event is being held on Wednesday 23 November in Smethwick. The purpose of the event is for local businesses to network with fellow contractors on the Black Country Framework Contract for Minor Works and to meet new supply chain businesses from the Black Country.

There will also be an opportunity to meet engineers from the participating authorities, including Transport for West Midlands (TfWM), to discuss the procurement procedures and the potential work available through the Framework agreement.

The Black Country Framework Contract for Minor Works is a Sandwell-led collaboration of the four Black Country councils – Sandwell, Dudley, Walsall and Wolverhampton – and Transport for West Midlands (TfWM), working together to ensure the provision of highways and civil minor construction works, typically minor highway improvements, work on bridges and structures, and other transport-related highway and civil construction.

Potential contractors and supply chain businesses are invited to the event to learn more about the requirements and expectations of both the local authorities (LAs) and the principal contractors involved in the Framework Contract, and to engage with new Tier 2/3 supply chains across the Black Country in order to discuss potential opportunities.

The event will provide the chance to:

  •  Speak directly with a variety of different civil engineering contractors
  • Hear about the support for potential growth on offer to Sandwell businesses
  • Learn about the support offered for labour employment and apprenticeships
  • Hear about Sandwell Council’s procurement process on the In-tend portal
  • Get advice from bid writers and tendering professionals.

The supply chains that will benefit most from this event are from the following sectors:

  • Builders Merchants
  • Sand and cement suppliers
  • Haulage
  • Road surfacing
  • Coated materials
  • Traffic signs
  • Traffic management
  • Street furniture and steelworks
