Launch of car supermarket in Wednesbury to create 200 jobs

cardiff-north-small_2isA Welsh car supermarket is crossing the border for the first time to launch its first store in England. The opening of the new car showroom on the former Carcraft site in Wednesbury will create around 200 new full-time jobs across sales, administration and vehicle preparation for the borough.

As we reported back in December 2016 the 13-acre site on Darlaston Road has been empty since Carcraft vacated it in 2015. It was purchased by The Trade Centre Wales, the largest car seller in Wales, which has headquarters in Neath plus showrooms in Cardiff and Merthyr Tydfil.

The company is now set to launch its new showroom under the brand name The Trade Centre UK following a multi-million pound investment to upgrade the existing facilities. It will open on 14 April 2017 with 1,500 vehicles on display.

The Wednesbury site will operate as both the retail operation and central preparation facility for additional stores in the region for The Trade Centre UK.

Andy Coulthurst, chief executive of The Trade Centre Wales, explained on the company’s website: “This is an exciting step for The Trade Centre Wales as we expand our geographical footprint into England for the first time.

“The premises in the West Midlands needs total reconfiguration to suit our concept and customer-centric process, as we invest heavily in creating facilities that optimise the customer experience.”

He went on to say: “We are confident that our first store in the West Midlands will be well received by value-driven car shoppers, and we look forward to the journey of establishing the brands as household names in the region, as we have done so successfully in Wales.”

Think Sandwell welcomes The Trade Centre UK to the region and wishes it all the best for the launch of the new showroom. If you’re looking for new premises for your business, go to our Property & Planning pages to find out how we can help.
