The Midlands Family Business Awards showcase the achievements of family businesses and their leaders, giving the region’s best operated family businesses the opportunity to excel. Through the awards, the sponsor aims to create an ethical, friendly and supportive community for the Midlands region’s family run firms.

 

 

 

 

The 2015 Awards offer 10 categories. Entrants may enter their family business in up to three categories for which it is eligible. Entries are welcome from all sizes of family business and from all industry sectors. Nominees may also make submissions on behalf of their clients’ or friends’ family businesses or nominate their own advisers.

The categories for 2015 are:

• Best Small Family Business (turnover less than £5 million)
• Director of the Year (under 40)
• Employer of the Year
• Environmental Sustainability
• Fastest Growing Family Business
• International Development
• Manufacturing Excellence
• Retail Excellence
• Service Excellence

Winners receive a trophy and the winning title, together with the associated PR, prestige and kudos that comes with winning. For prospective customers, an award win can set a business apart from its competitors, and can help persuade a potential buyer to appoint the winning business.

The awards finalists also have the chance to discuss their business with successful business leaders, who can help them to maximise business potential and plans. There are also opportunities to build contacts, meet and network with other award participants, businesses, potential customers and advisers, building a network of contacts within a forum for business development and best practice knowledge exchange.

Midlands based family businesses of any size, sector, industry or specialism, and their advisers, can enter the awards.

A family business is defined as being influenced by a family or by a family relationship and that perceives itself to be a family business. For example, the family as a body may effectively control business operations because it owns more than 50% of the voting shares or because family members fill a significant number of the top management positions.

Entries must be submitted by 20 July 2015.
