West Bromwich bacon producer Turners of Bond Street has been saved from liquidation, preserving 13 jobs.

Turners of Bond Street, founded in the 1930s, produces bacon using traditional curing and smoking techniques. The family-owned company supplies hotels, restaurants, caterers, small supermarkets and delicatessens, for whom quality and traditional methods are more important than large volumes and low prices.

The company appointed liquidators last Friday but it has now been sold to local entrepreneurs Paul Atkins and Paul Moore, who will continue to trade under the same name.

The company was struggling financially due to increased import costs following the Brexit vote but the new owners feel confident that they can turn things around and generate growth.

All 13 employees will be staying with the company and Peter Turner, who has been with the business for 40 years, has been appointed non-executive director. Former owner Rob Sessions has now left the company.
