Low Carbon and Circular Economy Innovation Fund networking event

Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership logoThe West Midlands Low Carbon and Circular Economy Fund is inviting businesses to register for a networking event taking place in June. The online event will provide an opportunity to find out if your business could benefit from the grant funding. The aim of the fund is to support businesses across the West Midlands in driving forward sustainable innovation.

The event will also provide an opportunity to speak with other businesses, including food and drink manufacturers and providers of low carbon and circular economy solutions, and potential consortia organisations.

The West Midlands Low Carbon and Circular Economy Fund has been designed to support the development of collaborative projects between West Midlands’ based businesses that can help the deployment of environmentally sustainable approaches and practices in the region’s food and drink manufacturing sector.

Successful projects will undertake feasibility studies that demonstrate how low-carbon and sustainable technologies can be deployed in the region to decarbonise operations or enable new sustainable approaches or products to be integrated into activities.

The fund has been developed by the Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership (GBSLEP), which believes that sustainability is the major innovation challenge of our time and provides both an opportunity and an obstacle for business growth over the coming decades.

As the lead for the West Midlands Local Industrial Strategy Delivery Plan for Food and Drink Manufacturing and for Low Carbon, GBSLEP has developed the fund for food and drink manufacturers and low carbon businesses, to provide them with the opportunity to test sustainable approaches or products on the market and create pathways to investment.

The event takes place on Thursday 17 June, 9.30-11am. The agenda for the virtual event is as follows:

  • Introduction to the West Midlands Low Carbon and Circular Economy Innovation Fund
  • Overview of the Made Smarter Fund and how it supports this work
