The old north bridge at Junction 10 of the M6 will be demolished over the weekend of Friday 20 May to Monday 23 May.

The M6 motorway will be closed in both directions between Junction 10 exit and entry slip roads from 8pm Friday 20 May to 6am Monday 23 May. The M6 Junction 9 northbound entry slip road will also be closed to reduce congestion on the approach to Junction 10.

Motorway traffic will be diverted up and over the junction and severe delays are expected so it is advisable to avoid using the M6 if possible during the closure.

It is also expected that local roads will be significantly busier so avoid the area if possible or plan ahead and allow extra time for your journey. If you’re making a local journey, please consider using public transport if possible, or walking or cycling for shorter trips.  

The closures are part of the ongoing M6 Junction 10 improvement scheme, which includes replacing the two motorway bridges at the junction. 

The old south bridge at the junction has now been successfully demolished. The work was carried out safely over the weekend of Friday 6 to Monday 9 May.

M6 Junction 10 is of strategic importance within the Black Country and the wider region. The congestion there affects the local community and businesses, particularly during morning and evening peak times. The aim of the improvements is to ease congestion and reduce journey times for the thousands of drivers who use it every day.
